UNACCOMPANIED

My last international work assignment was ‘unaccompanied’.

This means the family stays home; you go alone.

These days this is easier than, say, ten years ago: FaceTime, Skype, WhatsApp are great tools to stay connected. To actually see each other when calling.

Still…

There is the time difference.

And what to do during the weekends and evenings?

These images reflect the mood when not talking with my wife or daughters; when not going into the city, or having dinner with colleagues.

Staying in my apartment.

Doing stuff.

Living.

Lonely? No.

But still alone.
